Behind Gloria

Toshiko, Co-Founder
Toshiko
Co-Founder

She spent 14 years at Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, leading their data team through some of the most volatile moments in abortion care. She was there when a shooter killed three people inside the Colorado Springs clinic. When fake sting videos put staff into hiding. When Medicaid funding vanished overnight. When SB8 went into effect — and the calls didn’t stop. These things didn’t break her. They hardened her for the fight. Now she’s asking.

“Gloria”
Sidekick. Traveler. The Everywoman.

She’s the woman who drove 400 miles and needed a place to sleep. She’s the host who opened her home because it was the right thing to do. She’s the volunteer who answered the phone at 11pm. She’s all of us — doing what we can, when it matters.

Named for the Glorias who came before.

Named for the Glorias who came before her — Steinem, Allred, Feldt — and the Wonder Women who inspired her logo, Gloria is the spirit of ordinary people doing extraordinary things for each other. No cape required.

Gloria Steinem
Gloria Steinem

Who taught us that the personal is political — and that women telling their own stories changes everything.

Gloria Allred
Gloria Allred

Who showed up, fought hard, and never once apologized for it.

Gloria Feldt
Gloria Feldt

Who led Planned Parenthood for a decade and reminded us that reproductive rights aren’t a favor — they’re a foundation.

Wonder Woman
Wonder Woman

The original sidekick who turned out to be the hero all along. (Yes, she’s in the logo.)

Our Mission.

When crisis hits, helpers appear. Neighbors open their doors, offer rides, give spare time. Those everyday helpers are some of the most powerful resources we have. Indigo Bird turns that instinct into infrastructure, building the tools that connect people in crisis with community members ready to offer space, time, and care.

Our mission is to turn everyday helpers into bona fide sidekicks, building the tools that transform existing resources into scalable support, so access to care isn’t determined by money, location, or connections. Our flagship project, Gloria, puts this into action, connecting people traveling for abortion care with last-minute vacancies in donated short-term rentals.
